TOUCHING TOES
Keep your feet beautiful with this quick and easy home pedicure.
- Heat 2 litres of whole milk until it’s warm, but not hot, then combine it in a bowl with just enough water to cover your feet. Add two drops of almond extract. The lactic acid in the whole milk acts as a gentle exfoliant to soften your feet, and the almond extract also helps to soften the skin.
- Remove your old nail polish, then trim the nails straight across with a nail clipper or manicure scissors. File to a square shape with an emery board.
- Apply a cuticle cream or oil to the cuticles, and gently push them back with an orange stick.
- With a pumice stone, gently sand away the calluses on your feet. Follow with a foot cream to help keep skin soft.
- Mix a handful of coarse salt with enough olive oil to make a paste. Spread this mixture over your feet and calves, and rub gently to exfoliate and moisturize. Finish by wiping away any remaining salt grains with a warm, damp cloth.
- Finish by polishing your nails. Use a base coat, two costs of your favourite colour, and a top coat, Repeat these steps every 2 to 3 weeks.
