Sometimes it seems as if the cosmetic industry is promising us a wrinkle-free society-provided we use the right combination of creams and moisturizers. These are the types of products for which most of the claims are made and these categories are the ones most of us mean when we talk about skin care.
Moisturizers A moisturizer, as the name implies, is meant to retain moisture and keep the skin soft. Some moisturizers are heavier than others, and are best suited for extremes of weather conditions or for drier skin. By and large, a moisturizer is designed to be worn during the day alone or under makeup.
Night Creams A night cream is also a moisturizer, but it is usually heavier in texture and provides a more protective barrier for the skin.
Eye Creams Eye creams contain many of the same ingredients as moisturizers and night creams, but they may also include more waxes, such as beeswax or candelilla, to help cover little lines that form in the eye area.
Wrinkle Creams, Neck Creams, etc. These are part of a group of “special” creams. They are usually “heavier” moisturizers designed to be used as lubricants for specific individual problems.
