Getting Motivated to Work Out at Home

A lot of us really want to start working out, but we do not feel comfortable working out at a gym or health club. Many of us would rather do our workouts in the privacy of our own homes. This is fine, when we actually do it. But unfortunately, more often than not we find an excuse not to work out, because we just don’t have the motivation that we would have at a gym. So, how can one get that motivation and stick to a workout schedule?

Motivational Tips:

It is possible to get motivated to work out at home. And you will probably find that once you get into a regular workout routine each day, that it just becomes a part of your schedule. But in order to get up and actually start working out, we need motivation. Here are a few tips that will help you become more motivated to work out at home.

? Pick a time of the day when you know you have energy and enough time to do a complete workout.
? Setting goals, whether they are for weight loss, or just getting into better shape, will help motivate you to exercise to achieve those goals.
? Don’t expect miracles. We often lose motivation if our fitness goals are not met in a few days. It may take weeks to notice any significant changes and if you stick it out, you will begin to see these changes.
? Write yourself little notes of encouragement, such as “congratulations, you lost a pound this week,” and post them around the house. When you see that you are achieving something, you will tend to be more motivated to continue with your workouts.
? Get yourself a workout buddy. Often, we cheat and skip out on working out, because there is no one there to know that we are cheating. With a workout buddy, you will have someone to motivate you and you’ll have company for your workouts.
? Don’t choose workouts that are too difficult. The harder something is, the more likely most of us are to give up on it. Find a workout that you are comfortable with and you will find that you are more motivated to do it.

Home workouts are a terrific way to get in shape, as long as we don’t slack off. Getting motivated to work out at home is not all that difficult, especially when you really, truly want to get into better shape.

I am not a big fan of gym and try to work out at home as much as I can. But boy, it is so hard!! My biggest problem is temptation…TV, couch, fridge, bed etc….. So now my husband is transforming our garage into a little gym, which helps me staying away from those temptations while I am working out.  I am just hoping that our gym equipment wont' turn into a big clothes rack!!!
