Foundation makeup, properly applied, can give your skin a more even tone and texture. It may also add a desirable shade and color. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that foundation will cover up all complexion problems. It is not normally designed to camouflage blemishes, cover wrinkles or conceal dark circles. To help do that, cosmetic companies manufacture a range of concealer-type cover products.
Three Types Foundations come in liquid, cream, stick and cake. To accommodate different skin types, there are three different varieties. To get the right product, you absolutely have to know your skin type. Oil-based: This is what is known as a water-oil product. The color is suspended in the oil base. Water-based: Although there is some oil, it is less important, and the product is known as an oil-in-water type with the color suspended in a base that is part oil/part water. Oil-free: This is completely free of all oils, animal or vegetable. The color is suspended in a water base. Three Finishes You can buy foundation in three possible finishes:
Dewy: Designed to give a moist, glowing look Semi-matte: A smoother finish, with less shine Matte: A finish with little, if any, shine Three Kinds of Coverage There are also three degrees of coverage available: Sheer: The lightest and meant for the best complexions. Light or medium: Designed for the average skin, it will cover some flaws. Ultra or heavy: Provides the most coverage and gives the most made-up look.
